The Romanian High Court of Justice suspended Wednesday the trial in which FC Steaua Bucuresti owner Gigi Becali is indicted for bribery in a match-fixing case and will send the file to the Constitutional Court to settle an exception of unconstitutionality raised by one of the defense lawyers.

Romania’s Constitutional Court said the interdictions and obligations imposed by Government Emergency Ordinance 230/2008 restricts both the right to pension, stipulated at article 47, section (2) of the Constitution of Romania, and the right to labor stipulated at article 41 of the fundamental law.

Romanian President Traian Basescu notified the Constitutional Court Friday regarding the law stating that a referendum cannot be organized in parallel with presidential, Parliament or European Parliament elections.

Romania's Constitutional Court noted that eliminating natural parents from their children's adoption procedure is a flaw in the legal system and decided, citing the European Convention on adoptions, that natural parents must give their consent when completing the adoption procedures.
