Romania is ranked among countries with a high level of human development this year, at 63, but is three spots lower than last year, when it was ranked 60 in the annual United Nations Human Development Index report released Monday.

An American lawyer said the trial in Iraq of American-Iraqi citizen Mohammad Munaf, who helped kidnap three Romanian journalists in Iraq in 2005, is stalling because Romanian authorities are not responding to requests of Iraqi investigators and Munaf’s defense attorneys.

Over 20 countries, including Romania, are mentioned in a report by Amnesty International regarding the export of weapons to Israel, says the online edition of Haaretz.
