Romania posted the seventh growth in installed wind power capacity among the European Union member states in 2010, namely a 448-megawatt increase to a total of 462 MW, according to a report of the European wind energy association EWEA.

Danish power producer Scan Energy might install wind farms in Romania between 2010 and 2012, following the acquisition of 170 large-scale turbines worth some EUR500 million from Germany’s Nordex, the latter said Thursday in a press release.

The national power grid will not be able to manage the high volume of wind farms production for which Romania’s state-owned power grid operator Transelectrica got requests, the company’s representatives said.
