Romania has ranked 44 after being included this year, for the first time, in a World Economic Forum chart of the 57 most developed financial markets worldwide.

Romania picked up four notches to 64 in a global competitiveness ranking released by the World Economic Forum on Tuesday.

Romania ranks 74th out of 131 countries in a global top of economic competitiveness for 2007-2008, but its score remains unchanged from 2006, with competitive drawbacks such as lack of transparency in government decisions and poor road infrastructure.
