According to the data from European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) and the association of automotive manufacturers in Romania ACAROM, Romania ranks 18th in EU, with 22,276 new car registrations in the first three months of 2017, up 27.5% compared with the year-earlier period.
Dacia had a market share of 2.6% in EU+ EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) in January-March.
According to ACEA, demand for passenger cars increased by 8.4%, totaling 4,141,269 units in January-March. Italy (+11.9%), Spain (+7.9%), Germany (+6.7%), the United Kingdom (+6.2%) and France (+4.8%) all saw their markets grow during the first three months of the year, contributing to the overall upturn of the EU market.
As for new passenger car registrations by manufacturer, VW group ranks first in January-March, with 964,383 units, up 5.3% on the year, followed by PSA group, with 420,679 units, up 3.7%. Renault group ranks third, with 405,848 units, 11.1% higher compared with January-March 2016, while Renault’s Dacia rose 9.9% to 111,126 new passenger car registrations.
