ECB Keeps Key Rate Unchanged At 1%

In a move widely anticipated, the European Central Bank on Thursday said it will leave its key monetary policy rate unchanged at 1%, a level it has kept for the past five months.

ECB started to lower its official interest rates as of October last year, when it stood at 4.25%.

The current key rate of 1% was set in May.
