Econ Min: Romania’s ’07 Budget Def 2.4% Of GDP

Romania’s Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian said Monday that the country’s general consolidated budget posted a deficit of 2.4% of gross domestic product in 2007.

In the third budget revision in 2007, the Government has reduced the budget deficit limit to 2.4% of GDP, from 2.8% of GDP.

In January-November period, the budget reported a deficit of 1.14% of GDP.

Romania, which makes the bulk of its spending in the last months of the year, posted a budget surplus of 0.12% of GDP in January-October period.

For 2008, the Parliament approved a budget deficit of 2.7% of GDP.
