One Quarter Of Romanian Domestic Violence Victims Are Men

One quarter of over 6,700 domestic violence victims registered in Romania since the beginning of the year are men, according to a report resealed Wednesday by the national family protection agency.

Data updated for the first three quarters of 2007, Romania registered 6,717 cases of domestic violence, which led to 103 deaths. A quarter of the victims are men, while 75% are women, a majority of which (56%) come from rural areas.

The data was presented during a press conference for the opening of a 12-day campaign aiming to reduce domestic violence against women.
