Romania 9-Mo New Car Sales Down 54.3% YY To 101,770 Units

Romania's new car sales dropped 54.3% on the year to 101,770 vehicles in the first nine months, the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association, or APIA, said in a statement Wednesday.

In January-September 2008, new car sales stood at 222,997 units.

In September alone, new car sales were down 2.8% on the month to 9,342 units, APIA said.

Romania's overall auto market (including cars, commercial vehicles and buses) dropped 57.2% on the year to 114,573 units in January-September.

In 2008, the Romanian auto market fell 11.7% on the year to 324,080 units.
