Romania Grants EUR100,000 Aid To Cyclone-Hit Myanmar

Romania will grant an emergency aid of EUR100,000 to Myanmar, devastated by the Cyclone Nargis. The money is to be allocated via the World Health Organization.

Romania is responding to the emergency aid calls launched by the United Nations, the European Union and the World Health Organization to assist people in cyclone-devastated Myanmar, the government, which approved the aid, said in a press release Wednesday.

The area was pulverized by Cyclone Nargis on May 3, leaving at least 34,273 dead and 27,838 missing, according to the government in Myanmar. The UN said the death toll could exceed 100,000.
