Romania Jan New Car Sales Tumble 65% YY To 8,187 Units

New car sales in Romania fell roughly 65% in January to 8,187 units from 23,369 units in January 2008, the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association, or APIA, said in a statement Friday.

It said bus sales saw the sharpest decline to 58 units, down 71.6% from 204 units in January last year.

Car sales dropped 63.9% on the year to 7,110 units from 19,712 units sold in January 2008.

Light commercial vehicles were down 70.5% on the year to 1,019 units, from 3,453 units traded in the corresponding period of 2008.
