Romania might adopt the single European currency on January 1, 2014, economy and finance minister Varujan Vosganian Saturday told a press conference in northeastern city of Suceava.

Vosganian said he hopes Romania will join the euro zone early 2014 with an inflation meeting the Maastricht criteria.
The minister said Romania will have 2012-2014 period to prepare for its euro-adoption target, which will hopefully be achieved on January 1, 2014.
Vosganian added the National Bank will work on the country’s euro adoption strategy.
