Romania To Apply New Transit Visa Policy, Starting Friday
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that starting with July 11 there will be a simplified legal frame for foreigners wishing to cross Romania and who need visas, while Romania will unilaterally acknowledge certain documents as equivalent to national visas in transit situations.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romania will unilaterally acknowledge certain documents as equivalent to national visas in the situations where Romanian soil is crossed by citizens of third party countries who fall under visa regulations.
Thus, citizens from third party countries, who are obligated to hold visa, will be able to cross Romania, without a transit visa, over a period of time no larger than five days, if they have an “uniform visa” (mentioned in article 10 of the Convention for the application of the Schengen Agreement), a “long stay visa” (mentioned in article 18 of the same Convention), a “stay permit,” included in Annex IV to the Common Consular Instructions.
