Romanian Agriculture Ministry Slashes 3,460 Jobs Out Of 13,300

Romania’s Agriculture Ministry will lay off 4,463 of its 13,302 employees, according to a draft government decision.

According to the draft, the ministry will have 7,646 jobs funded entirely from the state budget and 2,193 jobs in subordinated public institutions that fund themselves and receive state subsidies.

Romanian authorities have pledged to sack about 60,000 public sector employees this year, among other public spending cuts in a bid to get the country out of recession.
