Romania’s designated prime minster Theodor Stolojan said Monday he turned in his prime minister mandate to the president, saying he decided to let younger politicians take the helm.

Stolojan said it is up to the president to decide who to designate for the prime minister office in his place.
 
"My argument si that the two party presidents that signed the partnership need to assume the guarantee of this partnership holding the positions of prime minster and Senate chairman," Stolojan said.
 
He added he wants to let younger politicians have a shot at top-level positions
