Romanian Ex-Coach Gives Up State Secretary Position With Sports Ministry

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc on Wednesday signed the decision dismissing former gymnastics coach Octavian Bellu from his position of state secretary with the Youth and Sport Ministry.

Last week, Bellu requested the government to be dismissed from his position, citing his inability to work in a system that is “blocked and has no future.”

On Tuesday, Youth and Sport minister Monica Iacob Ridzi resigned, after an official probe was launched into allegations of corruption.

Ridzi was replaced by democrat liberal Luminita Sorina Placinta.
