Romanian social democrat Ovidiu Musetescu, 54, a former minister of privatization and former head of the country’s privatization authority, died of lung cancer Sunday afternoon in a hospital in Bucharest, doctors told MEDIAFAX.

The politician had been hospitalized a week ago and had been suffering of metastasized lung cancer.
Musetescu was under investigation by anticorruption prosecutors over the privatization of Romania's aluminum processors Alro Slatina and Alprom SA, which were allegedly sold to private investors well below their market value.
