Romanian Govt OKs Memo Subsidizing Basic Foods For Pensioners

Romania’s Government has approved a memorandum introducing a “solidarity basket” meant to help pensioners, Defense Minister Gabriel Oprea told MEDIAFAX after the Cabinet meeting Wednesday.

According to the memo, pensioners would receive subsidies for basic food products.

Labor Minister Sebastian Lazaroiu said Tuesday the proposition to instate a "solidarity basket" for pensioners had not been given a final form but he would support any intention to help the needy, with a minimum impact on the state budget.
