Romanian Govt To Hike Minimum Wage Monday-Fin Min

The Romanian government on Monday will hike the minimum wage, minister of Economy and Finance Varujan Vosganian said, without mentioning the increase value.

Labor Minister Paul Pacuraru last week said the government will present the final level of minimum wage on Monday. He said the new minimum wage should be closer to the maximum offer proposed by the ownerships rather than the minimum demand of the unions.

The unions demanded a minimum wage between 550 lei (EUR1=RON3.4112) and RON700, while the ownerships proposed the wage should be of RON480.
