Romanian Hidroelectrica Might Reach Record Pwr Production In 2010

Romania’s state-owned hydropower generator Hidroelectrica might reach this year a record electricity production for the past 30-40 years, the company’s board chairman Tudor Serban said Friday.

Serban did not specify the exact amount of electricity that Hidroelectrica might produce in 2010, but said the high output will be due to this year's heavy rains.

From January to July, the company produced 11.4 terawatts-hour of electricity, up 15% from 9.9 TWh from the similar period a year earlier.

Hidroelectrica is owned by the Economy Ministry.
