The deliberations regarding Serbanescu’s nomination lasted for an hour and a half, Isac mentioned.
The final decision in the matter, however, belongs to the Romanian president, as the Council’s role is merely consultative.
Monica Serbanescu worked as adviser to Romania’s former prosecutor general Ilie Botos.
Romanian Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu in August nominated Serbanescu for position of DNA head to replace Daniel Morar, whose three-year mandate recently expired.
Predoiu mentioned Morar will be proposed either for the position of High Official of Romania’s justice ministry in Brussels – a position yet to be created -, or for deputy president of DNA.
Morar declined the minister’s offer.
