Romanian deputy Mircia Giurgiu suggests reducing the value added tax on tourism services to 9% from 24%, applicable to meals, transport and camp site rentals, thereby developing the sector and increasing the number of tourists.

Romanian MP Giurgiu Suggests Reducing VAT On Tourism Services To 9%

Giurgiu said Thursday, in a press conference, that he will discuss this proposal with Tourism Minister Elena Udrea and ask her for support.

The deputy will put forward a bill to this effect on Monday.

Romania already charges a lower VAT, 9%, on hotel lodging.
