The other passenger, who is allegedly the driver’s brother, was committed to the hospital in Rocycany and will be visited Thursday by representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Prague, press attaché Gabriel Mares told MEDIAFAX.
The Romanian official added that all information that the embassy holds regarding the accident are currently unofficial, because the police has yet to formulate a written notice.
According to Mares, the information was obtained after the Embassy contacted the hospital and the police. Thus, data obtained so far indicates that the accident occurred in the morning around 05.45 local time, on speedway D5, at km 69, in the Plsen direction.
The freight truck flipped over after the driver allegedly fell asleep. Following the accident, the driver died instantly. While his brother, who was in the passenger seat, was taken to the hospital as he had sustained injuries, Mares explained.
The press attaché could not state the condition of the wounded person, saying however that he is in a hospital in Rokycany.
Romanian authorities will go to the hospital Thursday to take the necessary measures.
