Romanian Nurse Charged With Manslaughter In Maternity Fire Case Stays In Custody
A Romanian court issued a final ruling Monday denying the release from custody of nurse Florentina Cirstea, charged with manslaughter in the case involving a fire at a Bucharest maternity that resulted in the deaths of five premature newborns and severe injury of six others.

The nurse, who was on duty at the Giulesti maternity hospital in Romania's capital Bucharest on August 16, when a fire broke out at the hospital's intensive care unit for premature babies, was detained on August 23 and placed under 29-day preventive arrest on August 24.
The court also denied the defense's request to let Cirstea see a psychologist.
