Romania's Prime Minister designate Mihai Razvan Ungureanu has stepped down as director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE).

The Service will be run by deputy director Silviu Predoiu. Ungureanu was appointed director in December 2007.
Romanian President Traian Basescu nominated Ungureanu for prime minister Monday evening. On Wednesday, Ungureanu presented his Cabinet list and program.
