Romanian PM Halts Public Spending On Holiday Giveaways

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu halted public spending for the purchase of promotional customized products by public institutions, such as calendars, pens, bottles of champagne and watches, items offered especially around the holidays.

The suspension of spending was announced through a memo.

The measure is applied for all ministries, public institutions subordinated to or coordinated by the ministries, agencies, authorities, autonomous departments and national companies.
