Udrea said about six thousand purchase applications have been submitted by ANL tenants so far, adding other applications will be filed, as potential buyers waited for authorities to set home prices.
According to the minister, the order which set square meter prices for ANL homes to be sold in 2010 was published last week.
"The price for a square meter was set at EUR347, VAT excluded, and next year the price will be recalculated," said Udrea, adding city halls were informed they can sell ANL homes to tenants.
Udrea said the ministry was allotted the required funds to continue building ANL homes, adding the ministry also relies on the funds to be collected after selling this year's ANL homes.
Udrea, Defense Minister Gabriel Oprea and Cluj-Napoca mayor Sorin Apostu Monday visited a plot of land belonging to the Army and located near Cluj-Napoca, northwestern Romania, which will be used for the construction of an ANL residential project of 2,300 homes.
Romania's Government adopted Wednesday a decision to amend the norms regulating the functioning of the National Housing Agency.
The proposition to amend ANL's functioning norms was made by the Tourism and Regional Development Ministry and the new norms enable authorities to enforce the amendments to Law 152/1998 setting up the housing agency.
According to these amendments, youths can apply to buy their rented ANL-built homes at least one year after signing the lease contract.
According to the law, the sale price of ANL homes are set by local public administration authorities or by the economic operators who administer the respective homes, and will include a sale commission of about 1%.
The money obtained from selling ANL homes will be used to further finance the program constructing homes to be rented by youths.
