Aladag Y., 39, is accused of not keeping books on his business' and thus defrauding the Romanian state of over EUR560,000 in VAT and profit taxes.

Romania's Government has recently issued new legislation to fight tax evasion and tax authorities have intensified check-ups, as the country is struggling to boost its budget revenue amid a deep recession.
