U2 Not Coming To Romania This Year, Mayor Says

Irish band U2 will not be coming to Romania to play a concert this year, Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu said Friday.

The mayor had hoped to book U2 to play on the capital's national stadium, which is under construction and should be ready by fall.

Oprescu said U2 will be finishing up a tour of South Africa in September and logistical issues could not be solved to get the band to play in Bucharest.

The mayor said another famous band will play on the capital's stadium this year, but declined to name the band.
