18 Romanians Arrested In France Retail Theft Ring

The French gendarmerie on Tuesday arrested 18 Romanian nationals suspected of organized shoplifting, following raids at their residencies in Toulon, Var department, the gendarmerie said in a statement Wednesday.

Gendarmes found 200 bottles of liquor, 300 kilograms of food and 400 bottles of perfumes and cosmetics at the suspects’ apartments.

The authorities suspect the goods might have been stolen over a period of approximately two years.

In addition, the gendarmes seized a car and sealed an apartment used as storage by the suspects.
