French carmaker Renault mulls investing by 2009, EUR300 million in its Dacia plant in Pitesti, southern Romania, to increase output capacity and to develop the research on the Logan model.

Renault’s output on the Romanian market is seen to reach 400,000 cars per year from the 350,000 units that are currently produced.
In 2008 and 2009 Dacia intends to massively export the new Sandero model, the pick-up version of the Logan car.
The total sales of Dacia in Romania rose to 102,062 units in 2007, exclusively for the Logan model. Sales on all markets climbed by 17.4% in 2007, to 230,473 units, from 196,378 units registered in 2006.
