French President Sends Romanians Condolences For Mine Accident Victims

French President Nicolas Sarkozy sent a letter Tuesday to Romanian President Traian Basescu expressing regret and deep sympathies for the victims of the mining accident Saturday and their families, the French Embassy said.

"Mister President, I have heard with deep regret about the accident that occurred in Romania on November 16 at the mine in Petrila, which claimed the lives of 12 Romanians and injured several others,’ Sarkozy said in the letter to Basescu, according to the embassy.

Sarkozy expressed his support and the sympathies and condolences of the French people for the victim’s families.
