Bucharest general school inspector Stelian Fedorca told MEDIAFAX Tuesday the decision will allow for the exam to be supervised using video cameras in most examination centers.
"We had found enough school units with video surveillance systems in classrooms and hallways, but a large number of them are being renovated over the summer and can’t host the fall session of the exam. But we can guarantee that most examination centers will hacve this type of surveillance,” Fedorca said.
He added another security measure will oblige students to leave all their personal items at the entrance of the room of examination, to avoid cheating.
Fedorca added a draft normative act has been drawn up for the following school year, stipulating all school units hosting the highschool graduation exam need to acquire video surveillance systems. The draft is to be sent to the Education Ministry, the inspector said.
The year’s second highschool graduation exam is scheduled to take place on Aug 18 - Sept 1.
The first round of exams earlier this summer ended in scandal and with the intervention of anticorruption prosecutors, as allegations of fraud and corruption were raised for a large number of examination centers.
