Moldovan President Asks Replacement Of Romanian Language With Moldovan Language In Schools

Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin asked authorities in the Moldovan town of Balti to replace the Romanian language with the Moldovan language in the school curricula starting September 1, 2008, BBC Romania reported.

On a recent visit to Balti, Voronin said appropriate textbooks would be provided in schools.

Leonid Amoasii, headmaster of the Mihai Eminescu highschool in Balti said he doubts Romanian language teachers would accept the change proposed by the president.
