Mortgage Loan Interests Halved - Romanian Leftist Campaign Promise

Romanian Social Democratic Party president Mircea Geoana said that the social democrats would subsidy half of the interest rate on mortgage loans if they come into power.

Present at the launch of the social democrat candidates in Romanian city Braila, Geoana said that the social democrats, should they form the government, would propose the subsidy by 50% of the interest paid by those contracting mortgage loans.

The idea has already been launched by Constanta social democrat mayor Radu Mazare, who announced that his city hall would support half of the interest rate applied to the mortgage.
