Romania’s CFR Mafa To Start Layoffs On March 8
Layoffs at CFR Marfa, the freight division of Romanian national railroad company CFR, will start on March 8, but 1,500 people will not receive severance pay because they have retired or resigned, Transport Minsitry state secretary Gheorghe Popa said Thursday.

"Wednesday, in the Government meeting, we hope to have approved the decision for layoffs and the methodological norms, which have been approved by the Ministry of Labor and which yesterday (Wednesday) were at the Ministry of Finance," Popa said Thursday.
State-owned railorad companies will lay off 10,342 employees this year. Most of them, 6,380 people, will be laid off from CFR Marfa.
