The Romanian banking system should focus less on market shares and more on solidity, coherence and cautiousness, Romania's central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said Tuesday.

"The banking system has reached a point where it should think less about market shares and more about solidity, coherence and cautiousness,” Isarescu said during a seminar.

The central bank governor said Romania “had better avoid” the kind of turmoil that is ongoing on international financial markets.
