Romanian democrat liberal lawmaker Catalin Croitoru, who was designated education minister, refused the education portfolio, following a government meeting held Saturday, people close to the matter told MEDIAFAX Sunday.

According to the sources, Croitoru refused his nomination as education minister after talks held Saturday at the Government on the 2010 state budget.

Democrat liberal Daniel Funeriu, ex-member in the education reform presidential commission, might be nominated education minister, but a technocratic minister could also be an alternative, democrat liberal sources said.
