Romanian Econ Min Says Gas Price Will Tend To EU Average After Liberalization

Romanian Economy Minister Adriean Videanu on Thursday said the liberalization of natural gas market will bring prices in Romania at the European Union average, not at the Russian import price levels.

"Studies are pending on the impact of gas price liberalization. This liberalization would create a competition-based market, in my view, which would bring prices to the European Union average level, not to the Russian import level," Videanu said.

Last year, Videanu said Romania would put before the European Commission, by March 2010, a program for the liberalization of locally made natural gas prices.
