Romanian Leu’s Continues Upward Trend Vs Euro, Exch Rate At 4.0881

The Romanian leu extended gains against the euro Friday, and the central bank’s reference rate gained 0.34% at 4.0881 units, the strongest in almost one year.

Against the US dollar, the leu gained 0.6% , to 2.8876 units, from 2.9046 units Thursday.

The leu opened stronger at 4.0875/4.09 to the euro, compared to 4.0985/4.102 to the euro at closing the day before.

Romania's currency traded in ranges, on low volumes, in the first part of the session. At around GMT1100, the leu traded at 4.087/4.09 to the euro.

On the money market, overnight rates fell to 4%-4.5% a year, from 4.4%-4.9% a year Thursday.
