Romanian notaries public plan to lower their fees by 15%, after a 30% cut last year, for beneficiaries of a government-guaranteed home-buying program and forward their proposition to the justice minister.

"The congress of notaries public has decided unanimously to continue its social measure policy it started by lowering notary fees for the First Home program and will further lower fees, to help people whose income has diminished amid the economic and financial crisis ," the organization of notaries public said in a press release Tuesday.
The release doesn't say by how much notaries plan to lower fees, but people who attended the talks told MEDIAFAX notaries will propose a 15% cut to the justice minister, to be applied for all types of documents required within the Government-backed housing program. Sources said notaries also plan to lower fees by 30% for other types of documents and procedures.
Under the national housing program, the Government grants state guarantees for as much as EUR75,000 for mortgage loans taken by people who have never owned a home. The program also backs self-build projects.
