Romanian PM Urges Authorities To Stay In Flood-hit Areas

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu asked the interior minister to keep gendarmes and rescue teams in flood-hit areas for people not to feel abandoned and to ensure social aid is distributed fairly.

He said authorities are in control of the situation in all areas recently devastated by floods.

The Ministry of Public Works will buy construction materials off the Commodities Exchange next week and will immediately hire firms to rebuild people’s homes before winter settles in, Tariceanu said at the end of a meeting with the operating committee for emergencies.
