According to the presidency, talks will be held at the Cotroceni Palace on Tuesday starting 2 p.m..
Discussions will touch on ways to reduce public spending in central and local administration, and will also focus on issues regarding the public procurement law, the revision of the Constitution, the state institutions' decentralization process and a better absorption of European funds.
Basescu said last week he would summon the Government representatives for talks on infrastructure funds and planned layoffs in the public sector.
The president said he analyzed available data and saw the public sector layoffs announced by the Government have not gone into effect yet, adding he expects the Executive to accomplish its commitments regarding the reduction of the state apparatus.
