Romanian Ruling Coalition Regains Senate Majority As MP Joins UNPR

Romanian independent senator Ion Toma on Monday joined the National Union for the Progress of Romania (UNPR), part of the ruling coalition, says a statement issued after senator Serban Radulescu announced he had left the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL).

Romanian Ruling Coalition Regains Senate Majority As MP Joins UNPR

The ruling coalition had lost the majority in the Senate following Radulescu's decision to become independent, but regained it as Toma joined UNPR.

UNPR currently has 27 seats in the Parliament - 12 senators and 15 deputies. The ruling coalition now has 69 seats.
