A press release says the pieces, of which there are more than 200, include jewelry, weapons and riding equipment, collected in a ceramic pot. The items have been brought to Bucharest for conservation and restoration.
The archaeological research on the future highway's site is coordinated by the National Museum of History. Initial research last year found evidence of an Early Iron Age settlement near the modern village of Tartaria, Alba county.
