Thousands Of Romanians Attend Funeral Of Orthodox Church Metropolitan Bartolomeu Anania

Thousands of Romanians attended the funeral of Bartolomeu Anania, the Metropolitan of Cluj, who died Monday.

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc was also present at the funeral.

The religious service was officiated by Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, at the Cluj-Napoca Metropolitan Cathedral.

Bartolomeu Anania was suffering from severe cardiac and respiratory problems. He was placed in intensive care in Cluj-Napoca on January 25, upon his return from Vienna, where doctors decided he could not undergo heart surgery.

He would have turned 90 in March.
